Phylicia Rashad

Phylicia Rashad is one of the greatest actress of our time.She has won many awards for her great role.


Phylicia was born born in Harris County, Texas. Her father was a full blooded Cherokee his name was Andrew Arthur Allen and an African-American mother Vivian Ayers. Arthur was a dentist and Vivian was a Pulitzer-prize nominated artist, poet, playwright, and publisher. Phylicia has three siblings Andrew Arthur Allen Jr, Debbie Allen, Hugh Allen. Phylicia spoke both English and Spanish when her family moved to Mexico to escape U.S. racism. She graduated from Howard University,and is a member of the sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha.


Phylicia was noticed on the stage on Broadway, including Deena Jones in Dreamgirls. Rashād joined the cast of the ABC soap opera One Life to Live in 1983. She played as an attorney Clair Huxtable in The Cosby Show. She voiced Little Bill's mother, Brenda, until the show ended in 2002. Santa Barbara Felicia Dalton 1985. In 2005, Rashād received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from Brown University. In 2008, she appeared in A Raisin in the Sun on television and on Broadway. Phylicia was married three times and had two children.


Phylica received two Emmy Award nominations for
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, for The Cosby
Show. In 2004, Phylicia became the first African-American
actress to win the Tony Award for Best Performance by a
Leading Actress in a Play, for her role in the revival of A Raisin
in the Sun. She was nominated for the same award the following year, for Gem of the Ocean.She was in over 20 movies,she produced two show,did two
soundtracks,and others.

Phylicia won other awards like AFI TV Guide,Emmy Awards,
Black Reel Awards,Image Awards,People's Choice Awards.The
greater her role she played the more awards she got.She put
power,action,grace,and she created chacter that made people
want more of her.Phylicia made people want to listen to her,
and people enjoyed that from her.That's why she a great actress.

I chose Phylicia Rashad because she was the first African-
American woman to get Tony Awards.She made history,and
a path way for all women who wants to act.That why I chose
her.

You did a decent job on your page. You could've added some video clips of her work. It would've helped. Your essay could've been a bit more organized too.
